i do that....who wants to the the butt of the loaf? If you have ducks all around your appart like i do then you could toss it to them...but do this away from your patio, maybe on your neighbors patio, cause they crap all over the place !

I know what you mean... when I open a new loaf I immediately go towards the middle of the loaf. I agree, the end slices are usually smaller and I want a big sammich.
The only downside of going to the middle is that the bread tends to get moldy quicker. Probably, because I don't thoroughly dry my hands after I wash them to make a sandwich?

I do too.
And somehow it's bad, because I am wasting what in the end is also bread!
So, what I try to do is wait until I get to the other end, and toast both slices a little less than usual, so they don't get too hard!
I never use those slices for sandwiches, they're too thin and smaller than the rest.

No, you are not the only nut who doesn't like the heals of the bread. I, on the other hand, am probably the only nut who actully likes them better then the rest of the loaf.

Yes! I do it too. I end up tossing the first and last slice away.
I also never pick out the first item from a shelf, if I'm grocery shopping. I'm just weird that way.

Even I am like you. But the difference is I will not avoid the first slice. I will donate it to my friends or family members...let them suffer with the stale thing....ha....ha....

I don't know :D, I usually love the end slices because they're harder and denser, I guess. I usually eat it while drinking a glass of chocolate milk- it's not half bad.

No. Many people are like this. And keeping the ends on the end keeps your bread more moist.
