Good question. I would never mess my own bathroom at home, in fact i'm very neat. However, I have urintated on the floor and walls in public restrooms. And I don't know why. I guess it is a guy thing.

This may sound kind of funny but I am a retired school teacher and this mess in the bathroom deal starts early, believe me. Those cute little guys like to see who can stand back the farthest and still hit the urinal but as far as the feces in the urinal and on the wall - that is a few who would be referred to a counselor for anti-social behavior. I wouldn't want to be married to him. I have a friend who manages a store in a tourist destination and the tourists messed the bathroom up so badly they actually closed it to all but the staff. Gosh! Quit it guys or they may put cameras in there one day like they have at intersections.

The same reason their house is a mess!
If you are raised properly, and I was, you will not do these types of unsanitary things you mentioned.
I know that people such as yourself have to clean these areas, and I feel for you, so if I drop a paper towel on the floor, I will pick it up. No employee should ever have to be the public's maid, unless you're wearing a gold name plate and you're pushing a cleaning cart down a hallway in a ritzy hotel. Even then, people should have consideration.
I like you, wish it could be different.

I can't explain it either. I worked at The Gap recently and they had public bathroom there too. I would find feces on the wall, diapers on the wall, used needles on the floor; you name they do it. People are disgusting and there nothing you can do it. If you put a sign in the in the bathroom, they will do it just in spite. Just don't stoop to their levels. You could tell them the bathrooms are out of order, but you could get in trouble for that. If you can't stand it anymore, look for a new job.

It's not just men...it's women to!
For one lot of people do this simply because they know that they dont have to clean it up. They could really just care less because they aren't planning on going back to use that bathroom...it's like the "Doo-Drop-In-Take-A-Piss-And-Leave" type of deal for them.
Secondly I truly think it's kind of a mentally ill/retarded/psychological thing that goes on with people also. I mean think about it....what type of mofo would sit there and put his/her hands up his butt to get their own feces to smear it on the walls? Obviously something is going on in that indiviuals mind at the time....what it could be is way beyond me.

Some people like to inflict pain on others. Perhaps there was an incident in the store where someone could not get, or was refused some service and decided to get even. It might be someone you have met, and refused to talk to, or to date, and decided to make problems for you. I agree with you, it is quite foolish. Perhaps the management would place discreet surveillance cameras in there to catch the perpetrators in the act. Kids do amazing things for a thrill. Your victimizer might be a kid out to have some "fun".

I think that, while it is terrible, some people truly might get humor and pleasure during the act of knowing that someone else has no choice and will have to clean up after every mess, no matter how disgusting.

They probably try to hold their fecal matter in until they can't anymore, so they whip right into your gas station, run to the bathroom just before a massive fecal explosion hits the back of the toilet and walls.

They do it because they believe they can. After all, their mothers and significant others don't work there, and it's a relatively anonymous environment compared to home. Usually no one can prove exactly who did it, so their chances of getting blamed for it are considerably less. Not that it makes it appropriate, however- it is rude to anyone entering after that point, and downright disgusting to boot.

Because some people are just disgusting animals who have no self respect or respect for anyone else. I'd say a great punishment if you catch them is not to prosecute them for it but rather make them clean it up.
