One in which the giver has put in thoughts specifically aimed at the receiver, and is given with sincerety.
The best gift in the world is actually Jesus Christ, from God, to mankind. Within this gift is love, light, hope, and every positive attributes you can think of.

Love is always the best gift. Love with no strings attached to it in any way. Doing a good thing for another person with no desire of any kind of anything in return.

I think the best gift is one that reflects that you have been listening to the interests of the other person. For instance, perhaps they said they liked golf and you could get them a video on improving golf or a gift related to golf. My daughter knows I like to knit and want to learn to crochet so she gave me a DVD about each one. When you give gifts in this manner, the person knows you are listening to their needs and interests and remember them. It improves the bond.
