Probably not for something serious like marriage, etc. Because you actually need to interact with each other on day-to-day level.

I had a long-distance relationship for about 6-7 months during a year-long relationship. Long-distance relationships are hard and require more work but they can work. Emails, phone calls, and handwritten snail mail letters all can help the two of you stay in touch. Reassuring the other of your feelings is essential, because of the lack of physical touch (hand-holding, kissing, etc) which usually communicate those feelings. Some couples have come up with interesting and creative ways to keep in touch, like sending each other daily photos of them doing normal activities while holding up a poster or notecard saying "I love you" or something like that. If you really want to make it work, it can. Trust, communication, and respect are needed more than ever as well. Visiting when you can is essential as well. Good luck!

Long distance relationships are very difficult. I think both partners are to be both strongly committed to each other in order for it to work. You have to be forgiving of one another if anyone makes a mistakes depending on how far you are form each other. It is hard to remain faithful to your partner when he or she is miles away. Especially as the need for physical contact might rises. I think it is easier for women to stay faithful to their partner in a long distance relationship since they are emotional loving with their mind and heart, whereas men are more physical. They might feel the need for sex and company from somebody else because they feel lonely even though they are emotionally involved with somebody else. Men can dissociate sex from love while it is difficult for the woman to do. You have to be willing to communicate often. Nowadays it is becoming easier since there are cell phones which allow texting, e-mailing etc... You also have to be willing to travel and see each other. You can set a schedule of how often you are willing to see each other. You can plan your vacation around each other. It is not impossibe but it is very difficult. The strenght of your love for each other will preserve the relationship and your willingness to make compromises. I hope it is only temporary as you have to raise your kids in a stable environment. Kids like to be grounded. It is essential to their emotional development. Good luck.

They can work but it is much more difficult for them to work. Especially if the two live hundreds of miles apart. When they do work out, then I believe it can build a stronger foundation for the relationship. It will build the trust level stronger for both of the people.

I have had several ld relationships. To date, none has lasted. If you make no human touch contact, they usually want more than words when the time comes and it ends. There are those in the military that will say differently.

They can but they are so hard to maintain. My bf and I were a completely happy couple and then I moved away and we fight constantly and its just very hard to keep everything together. Frequent visits and phone calls help. Each person HAS to compromise something to keep things working.

Most of these kinda relationships don't work out. But I believe it can happen if you don't give up. Anything is possible if you believe it is.
