Not a chance. Only 10% of Americans support an escalation of troops in Iraq (being called a "surge" by the administration and the compliant press) and support for a draft would be even worse. Congress has no incentive to move against the will of the people when 68% report being "optimistic" that things will get better with a Democratic congress.

I highly doubt the new Congress would have as much support for a draft as the last Congress - which didn't have enough support to even consider it. Furthermore, I don't think the public support for the war is high enough to make it a serious consideration.
I also think the talk about Iran is mostly just posturing. I seriously double we will be attacking Iran any time soon. I don't even think we would attack North Korea; I think we would leave that up to the Chinese and Japanese.

They have activated the draft, it happened in 1980, I was the first to sign up in my home town.

no, there will never be a need for a draft in our life time. we have more than enough troops willing to volunteer. the new army recruitment age has been raised as well.
