That sounds like Caravaggio and Vermeer, if you are talking about the classics, but I'm afraid you're talking about something else.

Its doctor suess. His book Horton Hears a Who shows art all throughout the pages that depend on the light hitting the pages. He also has another best seller, Green Eggs and Ham, that has 1 picture in the book that depends on the light hitting the page. Its the picture on page 18 where Sam is in the tunnel on a train tryin to get the Cat in The Hat guy to heat his green eggs and ham. it's a magnificent work of art.... you should check it out
