All i wanted to do was go to my grandma's house to do my homework but my parents didnt want to take me. i couldnt concentrate on doing my work thats why i asked. i was upset so i went to my room and i thrw my books on the ground, then my stepdad came in and demanded my cell, ipod, and told me i wasnt alowed to do to my winter formal that i have been talking about for the last couple of months. My younger brother was being far worse today( was talking back and cursing!!!) and he had nothing said to him.[BUMMER] i am just so mad but seriously what do i do. I really want to go to the dance. And i want my cell phone and ipod back as well.

I think thats a stupid reason to have all that stuff taken away... why cant you express your feelings??? if you cant slam something when your agry what else are you supposed to do??? keep it all bottled up until u become suicidal??? Maybe they were just looking for a reason to take that stuff away- they should have listened to you if you needed to go to your grandmas house to do homework....talk about abuse of power....i unno what u can do about it tho....really sucks anyway reminds me of my life- little brother, stepdad, treated differently- oh yeah, i feel yea

If you want to convince them then you have to lose the attitude. Play the convicted and repentant daughter. Pretend to understand their reasoning, flash the puppy eyes. Then only ask for one thing, the dance. Tell them you can live without the cell and ipod but you really really want to go to the dance. Make sure to dispence with the dramatics too.

it depend when this dance is. You could not say much of any thing to them till like 2/3 day before the dance, be nice to them till then, or just ask to sit down with them and have a talk about what you wanted to do. They just might listen you could tell them that you dont want your cell and ipod back that they could keep it and asy you only want to go to the dance and could get them back after the dance. or just say look mom and dad I sorry for what i have done and all i want to do is to go to the dance you can have the night to yourselfs with out me around wouldnt that be nice. or you can just not talk to them till 2/3 day before the dance and do what thye say with out saying anying back to them at all....

he's trying to teach you to follow orders. that's discipline. trust me, you'd do the same when you become a parent. this is not about your brother, so don't compare yourself to him. well he might not be punished like you. but he is younger. and you are expected to behave more since you should be an example to your kid bro.
i'm sorry, but i appreciate what your stepdad is trying to do. i feel just like you before. but now i understand why my dad did those things to me before. and i'm trying to do the same for my son so he will learn to become disciplined.
just talk to them sincerely and say your sorry. show them that you are willing to change your ways. i guarentee you will get your stuff back soon.

Well, the BEST way to convince your mother and stepfather to give your items back are to APOLOGIZE for your misbehavior (throwing down the books, not doing your homework), and LIVING with the consequences that they have given you for those misbehaviors.
YES, you will feel it is harsh .. but they do love you and are trying to TEACH you responsibility for your behaviors.

give him an apology and dont bring up the lil bro at all...just politely ask for them back or at least back sooner, dont get too greedy, and ask for the dance
