I'm no psychiatrist, but it definitely sounds like bipolar to me.
I have spent quite a bit of time being depressed, and it's like having the volume turned up on all negative feelings and turned down on anything positive at all.
Bipolar means going from one extreme to the opposite, and that's what you describe. You should probably visit with a psychologist at least once to see if it really is bipolar disorder, or some other chemical imbalance. If you plan to take medications for your moods, then you'll definitely need to speak to someone to get the right meds for your specific condition.

Hi, I believe you have a mental illness 95% positive, but it could be severe or mild.
Don't worry as a lot of people I would say around 60% or more of the US population will or has some mental problem.
First, you will need to the doctor (psychiatrists) not psychologists cuz they can't prescribe medications, and the first time you go there they might misdiagnose you but they will give you medications.
If after taking the medications for 3 months and you still have those symptoms, then your doctor will have to rediagnose you.
It is very common for a person to be misdiagnozed 5-6 times in a 1 year period.
If the doctor gives you a diagnosis then you can apply for disability benefits at www.ssa.gov

Only a Dr. can properly diagnose you and I suggest you start with your family Dr. A friend of mine is bipolar but we never talked about what it was like when she was first diagnosed, was she experiencing moods swings from 1 minute to the next, etc. But I do know through time the depression & manic episodes can become quite severe if left untreated. It's really time to find out what's going on. Believe me, life will only improve with taking the steps to finding out what's going on. Also family & friends can better support you too. Good Luck!

It could very well be what's known as "rapid cycling" and yes, it is a subtype of bipolar disorder. Stop asking on Yahoo and ask a qualified professional instead- sheesh!
