I am looking to buy curtains for my living room. Most of my furniture is of a light color - beige or light wood. Our floors are also light wood. We have no rug. Our walls are light yellow. And we have a moderate sized light wood-framed poster that is mainly of a blue-ish color. I would like to create a warmer, more homey feeling to the room. What are you suggestions for the color? I'm thinking maybe a dark green or a dark red?? Help from those interior designers out there??

Take a pic of your room and go to HGTV.com ( message boards or forum) and ask the same question and upload the pic-- There are a slew of people on that forum that will help you figure it out

I wouldn't worry about the poster color. Classic patterned fabrics with shades of rich reds or burgundy, some deep golds and bronze and also deep olive or moss greens look really nice with the light yellow and lighter wood. Adds a little warmth and drama.

Red, Blue or Green would be great accent colors for your other furnishings and wall color. I'd personally go for red, seems to be more options available. Red is always good with yellow walls.
Good Luck.

I'm a huge fan of marroon because they're elegant for curtain. Get marroon colored curtain with beige/yellowish/golden design to it. In the winter months, you can use heavier material like jaquard or something like that. silk is also very elegant because of the shine it gives.

I think an orange color would give you the warmer feeling. Perhaps a curtain with orange, beige and brown in it.

brick red and medium/dark brown stripes in the drape fabric will really warm up the space and compliment the yellow walls and wood floor and furniture.
