To the outside world? I have a stoney heart to those that don't know me and no matter how hard hearted I seem, there is always one part that I can't hide from the world - my eyes. They are the one part that I can't turn hard even when I'm putting up my from of The Baddest @sshole Ever!! I have worked in a prison and a jail and in those places you really have to be the meanest thing around. I have had to occassionally stand directly in front of an inmate that was seconds from extreme violence and use my "hardness of heart" to argue him down or fight him down as need be. I had one inmate that was close enough to read my eyes and what he say as weakness is the only thing that kept him from serious bodily injuries when he tried something.

Therefore, I appear to have a hardened heart, but really I'm kinda soft hearted as I'll go out of my way to help others and even stop along side the road to say little animals before they get hit. Just don't confuse the appearance at face value and don't read soft heartedness as a weakness.

I am sorry to say, I don't keep it gaurded nearly enough. The question you just ask threw a different light on the subject for me.
I am supposed to be the guard of my sole and I am not doing as good a job at that as I am at guarding the small homestead.
Thank you for this question. It was a wake up call for me. I pray it was for others as well.

The best way to guard your heart is to fill it with the things of the Lord. Fill it with light and good, and there will be no room for darkness and disease. Memorize scripture, sing worship songs, do Bible studies, etc.

We can either stand and curse the darkness, or chose to be a lighthouse. Be a lighthouse.

If I have true faith, what do I fear of the world touching me? Does a lamp fear being put on a pedastal, afraid that its light will waver in the air or even in the dark?

Does a mustard seed grow cautious of the earth which covers it, or doubtful of the rain which trickles down to it? From what does the heart need to be guarded from?

Prayer, reading the scriptures, and keeping out unnecessary negativity.

I don't watch the news any more ... so much of what happens is needless. Instead, I listen to the news on Vision FM - not only do they have great ministry and music, they also condense the news ...

I also keep in close communication with my Christian friends, to mutually draw strength. I certainly don't exclude others, but this close contact with my Christian friends keeps me focussed.

That's what works for me, anyhow :)

I AM the pollution of this world. Still Jesus loves me. Still jesus forgives me. and still Jesus died on the cross for me. If we don't open our hearts, and just forgive and forget, we are callous. And that includes forgiving ourselves. I can't throw the FIRST stone, but I'll enjoy it when it's my turn. Sorry, I am a sinner............

I keep myself well guarded. I meditate and consult God whenever I approach a fork in the road of life. God is always there to help me with the right choice.
