Is there anyone here who writes to the troops in Iraq? I don't know anyone in Iraq, but I really want to support the troops over there or anywhere away from home in any kind of way. That means writing letters and sending care packages. Does anyone know how I can do that?

This link is a list of soldiers who are currently in Iraq. The list was started by a soldier who was in Iraq, he noticed some soldiers not getting packages from home, for whatever reason, so he made this website to help people in situations like yours, wanting to help, but not knowing exactly how to go about it....

Snacks and microwavable foods (easy mac, soup at hand, etc.) are the best foods to send, (non-perishable foods of course) crossword puzzles, cd's - any kind of music is great, if that soldier doesn't listen to the type of music you send, I almost guarantee you he/she knows someone who does, hygiene items - feminine hygiene items were hard to find when i was there....

Hooah Hooah Girl;

"Thank You" for your compassion for the brave young men and women serving in our military in the middle east. Yes, I do from time to time, write to service members in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and on ships patrolling the Persian Gulf. I use the website "AnySoldier.com" suggested by "Mustang Mandie". I have also sent many packages of support, especially when I detect a specific need that I provide.

This site contains messages from the service members themselves writing to you .Check it out for yourself for a couple days and it will give you a way to decide who you want to write to, and what they really could use, if you want to send things. Occasionally you will find a profile that is nothing more than "I want, I want, Gimme, Gimme", but you'll learn to root them out quickly, and find that the majority of profiles are honest, sincere, hard working people.

If you do write, please remember that most soldiers and sailors are working 12-14 hour days, 6 days a week, and quite often you will not get a response. However don't let that stop you from writing. The BEST thing you can sent is just a letter telling them know that you know they are there, and that you are thinking of them.

My husband is in Iraq right now and has told me that a lot of guys are not getting any mail so I make sure to send a lot of extra stuff in his care packages. There is a website www.americasupportsyou.com, it has a list of websites that you can go on to donate money for care packages to the soldiers. There are a lot of different types of sites listed there although on most of them you cannot send a personalized letter with them but all go to a soldier. Another site is www.letssaythanks.com, you can pick a card and add a message to it and they send it on to soldiers. All the websites are wonderful and support all of our troops.

Go to OperationHomeFront.net there's information on this site, that would be helpful to you. I sent a Christmas message to the troops, on the WWE site and the WWE Diva's are going to personally deliver the messages by hand.
