Depends. Do you think it's too long, or are you a little hesitant about getting marrie? I personally would not stick around that long with a guy as my b.f, but I have a goal I want a little more then that.

my friend was engaged for 16 years before they got married then by the time they got married they knew what they liked and disliked and what annoyed each other so by the time they got married they were over all there fighting they have never had a disagreement since and that was 4 years ago since there big day never rush into it because marriage is the biggest step you take in a relationship make sure your partner is the right person and if they are then is doesn't matter how long you wait as long as the day comes if you both love each other it doesn't matter if the wedding is today or 5 years from now you will both be happy!

You're like a gambler who has lost so much money he just HAS to keep playing because he has so much invested. In your case, it's the time and effort you put into the relationship that makes you not want to give it up. Sorry, but that is too long. The tacit message is that he doesn't really want to get married. Maybe you should just leave it that way if the relationship is solid otherwise. Isn't it just a piece of paper anyways? Especially nowadays when so many people have disposable marriages (not me, honey - married 18 years).

Yes, way to long. An engagement should only be long enough to make wedding arrangements. Usually 1 year is all the longer someone should be engaged. You and your guy are old married folk all ready and you haven't even tied the knot yet.

Hey you aren't from TN are you? LOL, sounds like my brother's fiance who I love dearly. They even have a 5 year old and a home together.

It truly is too long. They're in the same situation. She's been ready and he's been dragging about it.

We've been praying profusely about it and they've finally set a date for this spring.

So it's definitely too long. I even told her in regards to my own brother that it's not right for someone to want you to care for them as a spouse without have those legal papers.

If that man doesn't marry you, then you're wasting time on him. Those years you're waiting for him to marry you can be spent with a man who is ready for the commitment. I'm sorry to say that because I know it's hard to part with him since you have soo much time together behind ya.

only if it feels to long to you.
we were only dating for 2 mos, then we got married on the 4th month, and we managed to pull off a huge Military Wedding, I'm sure most would say too short. We're coming up on 20 years now, happy as a clam. Do waht feels right to the 2 of you. Good luck.

Yes, unless the two of you are trying to become professional daters and engagers. After my son had spent 6 yrs in college I asked him if he was trying to become a professional student. It didn't go over too well but he graduated shortely thereafter.

Ya think? I think it needs to come down to, let's just do it or move on...........that's a long time, but every couple is different and every relationship is different. Does it mean a lot to you to be married at this point? I would sit back and kind of take an inventory of you, your fiancee, what you have, what you want, and just set a date! Good luck!
