Same reason you have nose and ear hair. To keep bacteria dirt etc... away and out. In case you haven't noticed, all your "holes" have mucus and/or hair. Regardless of what the hole is for, they share defense mechanisms.

It's a secondary sexual maturity characteristic, which develops after puberty sets in, so it indicates that the person has reached "maturity" sexually. Of course, all that really means is that the person is physically developed enough to have the hormones and related development to be able to produce a child, not that they are really ready to do so or mature in any other sense of the term. Since we don't normally go around naked perhaps it will go the way of the dinosaurs, depending on what chance happening goes on with evolution, as it really isn't a helpful mating selector if no one knows it's there. Some peoples have developed in such a way that they do have less on average.

pubic hair is supposed to protect you from diseases and things, obviously not STD's. It acts like a spider web, just so the thing that want to get in to the areas that can get infected cant get in. its the same as any body hair. its for protection.
p.s.
i hope this was a serious question....you are very imature if it wasnt.
