Recently, a friend and I had the same discussion about bananas. Ocassionally, we buy them greener, wait for them to ripen, and days later discover they have turned brown, and have hardened. We live in different regions, shop at different stores....What makes this happen? Does anyone know?

Wow, that is very interesting. I suggest that wherever you keep your bananas, keep some apples around them too. Apples release something that speeds up the ripening of bananas. Whenever my mom buys bananas I usually try to keep them away from the apples because they ripen so fast. Anyways, hope I helped you. Good luck to ripe bananas. K, buh bye! Have fun being you! =)

There are different kinds of bananas, there are yellow which are eaten raw and green bananas which can only be cooked and eaten, maybe your buying the green one's. I know they turn brown after a while
