Why wouldn't you? Would you rather take the word of someone over here who has no clue what's going on over there, over someone who has "been there, done that?"

The more information you have on any subject, the more valuable your opinion. A private soldier may be too low on the totem pole to have a good overall strategic picture, and a senior officer may be insulated from the soldier's worm's-eye view of things, but either beats a complete lack of first-hand knowledge. On the other hand, we Americans never let our ignorance get in the way of our personal biases.

Well the Soldiers over there are the ones that should be listened to before any other source, In My Humble Opinion... They are the ones who are directly affected by the decisions.

Absolutely. They are there and witnessing the fighting first hand. They are also seeing the reaction of the people of Iraq to our presence there. We are listening to the media, who has a tendency to make news instead of reporting news.

Yes, but remember...one person's opinion is, quite frankly, one person's opinion. Just because an individual has fought in Iraq, that doesn't mean that he should be able to speak for all of his comrades and the nation as a whole.

Though we may listen to what this individual says, we must also realize that there are countless other soldiers who have not had the chance to speak, some of whom might agree and some of whom might disagree.

I'd rather listen to a soldier who has served in Iraq rather than people on Yahoo answers.

BTW...I have several friends who have/are fighting over there now and they say it is worth it. I also have friends who say the opposite.

Yea. Always remember, there are two sides to every story. Put yourself in that soldiers place, if you were over ther fighting that war and you felt that it was worth it, wouldn't you want someone to listen as to why you felt the war was worth fighting?

Why wouldn't you listen? How could the opinion of someone who has been there be less valuable than someone else who reached their conclusion based on what they've seen on TV?

It's always best to keep an open mind.

This question deserves a big fat YES. A friend of mine is in Iraq right now, and according to him, most soldiers think we're in the right and that it is indeed worth it.
