Heaven is a basic assumption. It's existence can not be disproved. But, in early Judaism, the belief in Heaven was ambiguous, though Moses attempted to, and to a great extent did, get God to disclose some basic information on the nature of His mercy and gifts.
If there are Christians who only believe in Christianity for protection, then they are barely hanging on, for, as we know, the belief in God is valid to humanist philosophy.

I think believing in God is more about the existential question "Why is there something instead of nothing?" It isn't perfect, because if God is the reason the world exists, then that raises the question of why God presumably exists. But my point is that where we come from and where we are going are two very different questions, and if you take away the where are we going question, the question of where we come from is still there.

They believe in God so that they think they are protected. Personally, I'm a Buddhist and believe in reincarnation, that when your physical body dies, your spirit is passed on to another being, human or animal. But if any Christians want to believe in Heaven and God, let them. It's their lives (and after-lives).

The question is moot because Heaven exists. I believe in God because of the overwhelming evidence which supports the doctrines of the Bible -especially creation and the flood of Genesis- the accuracy of the Bible and the existence of an Almighty Creator. I also believe because the Holy Spirit pricked my conscience and made me aware of my sinfulness, my helplessness to do anything about my sinfulness and my need for salvation through Jesus Christ.

I think it's a package deal. If one believes in God, the belief in heaven is sort of implied. I doubt you or anyone else could persuade a true believer to think otherwise.

sure I do have confidence in God. sure I do have confidence in Heaven and Hell. i do no longer think of i'm Christian, yet fairly i understand that i'm Christian. He grew to become into the single that chosen me. I won Jesus Christ as my own Saviour and He now lives in me. I stubble some situations, yet there is Jesus continuously to %. me up and help me to head on with life. God is great and that i'm very blessed. compliment God

Christianity is a religion based on a reward system. Christians wouldn't keep referring to heaven and hell if it wasn't what motivated them. Without the promise of salvation, I don't think there would be any motive or purpose to being a Christian. The lure of Christianity is the belief that they get to heaven.

Christians still belive in God, or I may say people belive in a higher being. All things we could not explain, we relate to Him. We are not animals that we just live to eat, spread and sleep.
