The only way you can get a legitimate copy of WindowsXP is to buy it from a seller (Office Max, Office Depot, Best Buy ...) or buy it as "bundled" software when you purchase a new PC from a legitimate source.
Windows and MS Office are not free - nowhere - nohow.

what type of notebook did you buy. because if it is a dell, then all you need to do is borrow someone who has a dell windows xp cd. the dell windows xp cd are all the same and will recognize if it is a dell computer. if not you can get an OEM version from directron.com. the home edition is about 82 and pro is 129. you don't want to pay for anything just install Ubuntu(linux) it is free. First of all need Internet connection then download limewire from www.limewire.com then install limewire then open it click on ALL TYPES and LIMEWIRE pro 4.12.6 always download whch is more than 3 MB then download that limewire pro to download it right click on file and click on download as save it and whne download finishes open the drive in which u have saved the download then install limewire pro 4.12.6 then open it and in ALL TYPES type windows xp SP2 pack then press enter and download that is more then 500 mb do it as u have done to download limewire pro 4.12.6 then open the window in which u have the windows xp sp2 file and install it.
This is all u need to do to download Windows XP SP2 Pack (Windows Only) for free.
