You didn't say, but according to your first name, I'm assuming you are from India.
I don't know if you can, but here are some things you can do to open the eyes of your communities:
Put up posters informing them of the dangers of drunkenness.
Publicize the effects that drinking has on the mind and body, especially the dangers to health.
Form groups to get drinkers off the streets and away from alcohol, maybe talk groups to see why they think drinking helps them.
Point out the deaths caused by drinking, and how families are ripped apart by this addiction.
Last but not least, make drunkenness a crime while working, driving, attending school or in public.
The last one has diminished, but not eradicated, the effects of alcohol on the American society.
It's a hard battle, but I understand your dilemma. My father died at the age of 45 due to drinking. His stomach was eaten up inside and after years of drinking, a hole formed in his stomach and he died of internal bleeding. He could not eat without throwing up, so he drank even more to feel full. The doctors could do nothing, because he kept drinking contrary to their advice and treatments.
I wish you much luck. Sometimes, the freedom of choice should be controlled, if it hurts those around us.

Not all the drinking leads to death.. Only drinking the liquor that is produced in a crude manner causes death which is very common in villages...You cannot eradicate the process of drinking since it has been there with mankind for many centuries... may be the option would be create an awareness amongst people on the effects of having illicit liquor and it may prevent many people from dying in the rural area...

If all were perfect we would be sipping rainbow soup out of crystal soup bowls with gold spoons.
Given time and all the present day problems will be addressed and attended to in the way best for all. I don't know where you have been but we have gotten together and we are developing our country. Maybe if you joined in and helped perhaps we could develop better.

Are you in India? Maybe people are drinking because life is so miserable there. If it were easier for them to emigrate to the United States it might address the issue
