I am currently visiting my family out of state and my male german shepherd is also here, he is now 7 months old. my brothers girlfriends family has a female german shepherd (not sure age) anyways, i am going to start work, well helping someone out temporarily while im here for the next month. my mom had just asked me about breeding my dog with my brothers girlfriends, and i immediatly said no. i DO NOT want to breed my dog at the moment. Myself and my fiance have discussed it, and we will do it later on when we have a female and when our male is getting old we would breed to have a puppy by him. before that i DO NOT want to breed my german shepherd. and i definently am not going to breed and they just sell the puppies to make money. ONE thing i worry about, is while im at work, they breed the dogs behind my back, if something like this were to happen what actions can i take? i do NOT trust my mother and she doesnt respect me or what i have to say as u can see in my other questions.

It is your dog. As the owner of your dog, he is your personal property and therefore it is your right if you choose when to breed him or not to ever breed him. No one needs an explanation at all, period. If they want their dog bred then there are many reputable dog breeders who they can find online,in the paper, through their vet. Many places. What they are doing WRONG. Can you find someone else to take care of your dog for those few hours you're gone? If this does happen, the answer is yes. You can sue. If they denied that your dog was used for breeding, then you ask the court for DNA to be done on the puppies. Sometimes the Judge will go on markings alone. Say your dog is all brown and has a white patch right under his neck area and so did some of the puppies. That could be used as evidence and some Judges would not ask for more evidence than that. If it does come to the DNA testing, make sure when you file suit against these people, that you state you want all legal fees, all DNA fees to be paid by the Defendants. Also, anything else you want them to pay as well. I would not be upset with this any longer. One time I would calmly tell your Mom and brother, you are not interested in having your dog bred with his girlfriend's dog, and that you hope they respect your wishes. If they do not, you can tell them that you have been informed of your rights as owner of your dog and exactly what I told you here today. I'm sure that they will realize it will be much cheaper to pay someone else then pay what they will in court.

First of all, to the person who had the audacity to tell you to 'spay' your male -- males are NEUTERED rocket scientist... that being said...
The attorney can quote laws and give you all the advice as to what to do once you're in court, but that all requires a lot of money which I assume you would like to avoid having to spend.
Find your dog a daycare for the times you will be away. I know that too will cost, but not as much as attorney fees, court costs and DNA sampling. If you don't trust your Mother (which is really sad by the way) then go with your gut. Don't leave your dog in her care.
I won't repeat what some might say about not breeding your animal and how there are already so many unwanted dogs in the world, I'm sure you already know that. However, I will add that even though your dog helps to sire a litter of puppies, those puppies may not have his temperment which is really the heart of the animal you love. No matter how hard you try, they'll never be another _____________ (insert your dog's name here).

So few males (especially large breeds) are fertile at 7 months that AKC will not believe a dog under 9 months is the father.......
If they want papers YOU must sign as well as owner of the father.
Now if you are still there in two months there could be more of a problem.
And remember they can only breed the two if the female is in heat so only THEN for those 3 weeks would you have to make daycare or kenneling arrangements or send him to your fiance.

Maybe they have a dog daycare. You can keep him there during the day and he can sleep with you at night. I understand the situation and wouldn't want to breed my dog, just because of all the other unwanted dogs out there. You can give them a stern talk that you don't want to breed the dog. Try to keep the dog away from them too. Keep a close eye. I don't know if you can sue them, but I'm sure there is something you can do. Try researching it.

You could try a doggie daycare service or a boarding kennel to keep him at during the day while you are gone. If they did breed him, I don't think that you can sue, but you can refuse to sign the papers for the puppies (if they are eligible for registration, I wouldn't even let they other people know what his registration numbers are). If they do get your dogs number and try to register the litter, they would have to forge your signature to do so, then they would get in trouble (with AKC and possibly even the local authorities).

This is outrageous. 1.) Is the groomer self-employed? If not, contact her employer and give them the full story. 2.) Contact the AKC and explain the situation. 3.) Contact the BBB and explain the situation. File a formal complaint. 4.) I can't imagine there would be much at all in the way of legal damages, but if your friend has money and time to spare, she could try contacting a lawyer. 5.) She should also contact everyone she knows who uses this groomer and explain the situation. This is not a woman who has her clients' best interests at heart. Actually, this case would be ideal for one of those television court shows, wouldn't it?

Understand your concerns completely.
Before you start work find a dog daycare or kennel the dog if you can't take him to work with you.
You do have some say in the matter.Make it well known that your dogs pups would be worthless to them as you will REFUSE to provide his registration papers so the pups can be registered.
That might deter them from going behind your back. But it's doubtful.

Frankly, if you don't neuter your dog, it's your own fault if they breed him behind your back. There would be little that you could do about it. If they do breed the dog behind your back, you would first have to prove that the pups belong to your dog (possible, I think), and also prove that they purposely bred the dogs rather than them going at it on their own (not very possible, I think).
The ONLY way to prevent your dog from siring a liter when you don't want him to is to have him neutered.

I am sure you can do something chekc out: http://www.animallaw.com/
However, I would keep the dog out of the reach of these people and with someone you actually trust if you really want to avoid it.

Sue, for the puppies or the money that they sell them for, because it is your dogs miracle juice that make the babies and so you should be able to have the puppies...
GOOD LUCK!!
