From www.dictionary.com

Atheism: 1. the doctrine or belief that there is no God.

Hmmm... Doctrine... that sounds very much like a religious term to me...

Atheist believe in miracles too, generally that something comes from nothing; and life can come from non-life without a life-giver and that all that there is is sustained without a sustainer.

Interstingly enough, if you get on their websites they are predicting armageddon also. False prophets. Ha or LOL Actually some of them seem to be as blind as some Christians. Faith for instance is evidence. You have faith if you have evidence. Some Christians think it means blind faith. We know enough about science now to but the bible to rigorous scientific test to find out what many Chistians never found out, namely that if they had put it to the same rigorous testing science puts rocks through their might not be any atheists because they would see the proofs and be reasonabe. Christians have failed atheists so don't gloat. There are several definitions of religion. On is a system of belief. That doesn't need a god. Belief are in evidence. Atheists have no evidence for their belief their is no god. That takes blind faith. They believe in arguments, reasonings, their thoughts and the things they see and can reason out which is not bad. Things you can see can be used as evidence in an arguement and then uyou belive in the argument, which you don't know, it takes faith. Faith in the arguement. Christians see evidence of a creator and they have faith in that evidence. Each is a system of belief, base on beliefs and ending in one big belief, that there is or is not a God. The main thing here is that neither side know what they are talking about, has their head in the sand, is unreasonable, at least apparently from the limited evidence here, is of good will so not christian in practice, is no loving or loving to their enemies, and associating with idiots because they both agree that the other one is an idiot and irony of ironies they are both right.

A religion is not directly tied to whether you have faith in something. you're using the word faith in 2 different ways. for example, you have faith in a creator and so forth, I have faith that the sun will rise in the morning. I have faith that when I cook my breakfast on said morning it will be appetizing. Those are different uses of the same words, it happens sometimes. The real definition of religion is "a belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe or a personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship." You cannot be in a religion by denouncing such supernatural powers. 10 Points please for properly answering your question.

Atheism - LACK of faith/belief in a god.

Atheism is NOT a religion.

It does not take faith to believe there is no god. It is simply the default position. One that often times people convert to based on knowledge.

By your logic... not believing in unicorns must take faith to not believe so a-unicornism is a religion.

Ummm.. So you are saying because I do not believe in God I must have FAITH!!

How about Santa, does that require faith?

Or how about Odin, does that take faith?

Grow up, get over the fact that you are to weak to handle life without an imaginary friend.

I used to think atheism required some faith, but if you accept God as an omnipotent being, true omnipotence is in direct conflict with itself, and isn't plausible. (I'm okay with the idea of a pretty darn powerful, but not quite omnipotent God, however.)

Wow that's clever. Do you have faith that there is no Santa Claus? It does not take faith to reject a premise. Especially not a flimsy one.
Add: Dear, religion implies subjugation to the will of an unknown entity, be it a God or a spirit. We don't worship "nothing".

Atheism is an absence of faith and an absence of religion. We do not believe there is no God, we have confidence in it because it can't be proven. If his existance were proven, we would "believe".

Did you know that for most folks it takes FAITH to believe that strychnine is poisonous? After all, most people have never even seen strychnine. Does that mean that to avoid poisons is a religious act?

Having no belief in God does not require faith, however believing the other things they must believe to replace God does take faith. [i.e. big bang, evolving from monkeys, dirt, rocks, etc.) An atheist does have a god...just not the Christian God of creation.
