I teach dog obedience classes and I have found many of Cesar's methods work in helping me to help people better understand their dogs, and to better train their dogs. It seems that when I learned how to look and act like the pack leader, I got a lot more respect from my dogs, and other people's dogs, and training became so much easier. However, I started teaching myself how be a pack leader about 30 years ago, long before I started watching the "Dog Whisperer". Some of Cesar's methods have helped me improve on it. I don't believe in all of Cesar's ideas, some of them are downright risky. I have had many mentors over the years who have helped me with my training ability.

Cesar Millan vs. a wild wolf pack......hmmmm I think that due to the fact that most wolves are very different than domestic dog in the enviroment they grow up in. I think that the pack of hungry wolves would have Cesar as a meal. though dogs are very simular to wolves, wolves are not dogs. dogs will take leadership from man but wolves especially a wild pack will make an easy meal out of a lone man, no matter how knowlegeable the man is of dog behavior/dominance theory. the conflict would be a betting match though if Cesar was prepared to confront the leader with out the packs support. once this is done he could in theory control the pack.

The alpha rolling Mr. Milian advocates is a very stupid and dangerous idea. His facility is also the subject of a lawsuit currently as one of the handlers at his facility was not paying the appropriate attention to an animal they chose to exercise on the treadmill, and that dog had a heart attack and died. Mr. Milian claims he never saw or handled the dog, however, it was his establishment.

I much prefer the teachings/training of Ed Frawley ( http://www.leerburg.com ). You'll notice Ed's website has thousands of pages of FREE info, while Cesar's website offers little or nothing in the way of FREE advice. Cesar wants to make a buck, Ed just wants to help.

http://www.leerburg.com will change the way you think and vastly improve your animal's life.

No. I find that there is little or no information about his background other than that he trained himself by reading some books and that people "noticed dogs flocked to him." I think he's the Dr. Phil of dogs currently and eventually his spotlight will die out. I never heard of him before in my life until I started posting on this site (yes I have cable).

Absolutly! Ceasar is a genius when it comes to understanding dog behavior! I have only used a few techniques as I dont have that many problems with my dog, but they have worked wonders!
I have even been using his calm assertive methods at work ( I work at a vet hospital in boarding ) and am able to control and walk dogs i *just* met much more easily than before. Makes me look like I've been doing this for years, insead of 4 months : )

Sure have. It works wonders. Our dog will obey me quite well now that I use the dog whisperer's methods. I approach and touch and so on just like in the show, and our dog's behavior really did change.

Yes, and it works! You have to let the dog(s) know that you're in control, not them.
