I was running today and whenever I took a step (went up and down) it felt like my brain was bouncing up and down inside my head, is this bad for you or is it a sign of anything bad?

The brain stays put for the most part and you must hit your head pretty hard for it to move. If it does move, it generally crashes into the skull causing a concussion. What you were feeling is probably a result of something in the spine or nervous system. It's probably nothing to worry about, but if it's painful and/or persistant, ask a doctor.

The answer to your question is yes your brain can indeed move around inside your head however you have to impact your head pretty hard to make that happen. I think what you were feeling was something like a small electric shock when you were running. If this is correct than it was a nerve in your neck being slightly pinched as you were running. It isn't anything to worry about unless it gets worse or starts to happen when you are just walking. Good Luck>
