Read the Table of Nations in Genesis and you will see that Adam and Eve and all of creation took place about 6,000 years ago. The birth and genealogy of Jesus Christ in Matthew and Luke are also excellent to study to discover this time line. That way you can retrace the steps of history back to Adam and Eve for about 4,000 years from the birth of Christ. If this was not so then the entire genealogy of Jesus Christ makes no sense whatsoever. Yet the entire NT and OT supports the actual creation in six literal solar days. If the days of Genesis don't mean solar days, in spite of the fact that it is adamantly defined as such in Genesis by God Himself, then Jonah was in the belly of the whale about 3,000 years and Jesus Christ still hasn't risen from the dead. It would also make our work week extremely long since Exodus supports Genesis and commands that we work 6 days and rest on the 7th

Well, Adam's creation was just a little before Eve.
===============================
What do you mean, "when did Adam and Eve take place"?
Adam and Eve were people; not just an event.
An event can "take place".

Genesis was one of the last books of the Old Testament written. It was written in much the same way as Jesus told his parables. Much of Genesis was written in a poetic fashion (which suggests an oral tradition because it's easier to memorize), but it boils down to stories to teach lessons.
