There are different kinds of forgiveness. I can forgive the people who murdered a good friend of mine, but I can still agree with the legal requirement that they be punished for their crime.
Likewise, God forgave people throughout human history in a relational sense, but in a legal sense the price of death had to be paid for sin.

Jesus is the Lamb of God. God required a sacrifice of the Jewish priests for the people. They were to kill a red heifer to be atoned for their sins. God sent Jesus to be a living sacrifice, a man who had never sinned, to pay the price of all mankind's sin. This was the only way, because no one on earth could live without sinning. God's Son forfeit all His godly powers and relied on the Holy Spirit and on the word of the old testament and on prayer to the Father. He is our example on how to live even though none of us will ever reach perfection. God was willing to give up His Son so that we would know and accept His love and forgiveness.

I have to ask, how often do you sin?
You say God forgave so easily in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, if you sinned, you better hope you didn't die before you made it to the temple with your animal sacrifice.
Today, if Jesus is your savior, when you sin you simply pray for forgiveness right then and there.
I pick Jesus any day!

All to blame (Psalm 14:2-3) The background for the sufficient information of those verses is to be latest in Genesis 3: a million-19. interior the disobedience of Adam and Eve, the human race became poisoned at its source. we would desire to consistently not press this certainty and say that sin is inherited, yet we would desire to consistently comprehend the tragic element that from the initiating of the race until now all adult adult males have been marked with the aid of a tendency in the direction of evil. All adult adult males have long previous off aim. All are to blame. The Lord is defined as looking down from heaven to work out if anybody acts properly, it incredibly is, if anybody seeks after God. No such one is got here across. no one seeks after God because of the fact of obdurate rebel interior the middle. fairly of being vulnerable in the direction of God, all adult adult males have grew to become faraway from God. All of this, of direction, is the outline of guy in his organic state, guy in unrepentance, guy estranged and unrepentant of evil, guy different than for the saving faith and reconciling grace of the Christian gospel. Having long previous off aim under the impulse of our selfcentered nature, we've been, different than for Christ, under the condemnation. God so enjoyed the international (John 3:sixteen-17) God's love is timeless. was hoping this helped advantages to ya

I'm guessing according to Christian theology...yes! Christians believe it's not possible to go to God without going thru Jesus...which I find unfair, I mean, what makes us unworthy of being able to go DIRECTLY to God!
