I live in the Pacific Northwest, and I was wondering what is the best kind of kennel for a dog? Is it better to build a chainlink kennel with a roof of some sort and an igloo-style dog house, or is it better to just build a shed and put the dog in there?
Opinions?

Buy one of the kennels with the chainlink and the roof cover. Put a dog house in there, make sure the dog has plenty of room, and the dog should be perfectly happy.

The best kennel is your house. An outside dog is a sad dog.

Crate training is great.
If you have to give the dog full run of the yard. Find a area that has some protection/roof/ porch w/ roof and put a dog indigo igloo (best dog house) out and put straw in it when its cold out.

Any kennel you design should be well insulated,well ventilated, and water proof. I think that the igloo-style is overated and over priced. Some dogs refuse to even use them.I bet you could design something a lot better.

Chain link is best, besure you make a concrete slab under it so your dog doesnt dig under the fence, and it is easer to clean. also make sure there is a roof or side shelter so when its raining or windy your dog has shelter, it wouldnt hurt to put a dog house under the roof.

Go to a local pet store or a library and read a book you know your weather and they can give you excellent ideas
