Life is full of changes and with every relationship there is change. People grow used to doing things a certain way and other people take advantage without even a thank you. It's like you are invisible. Just tell him the truth but, first you need to be ready to go. Take or meet him somewhere public and have lunch and talk about it. Tell him you have grown out of love with him because... And don't go backwards. Be sure you are not making a mistake. I would hate for some one to abuse you UN not value you as a person.

Anyone here can tell you to "just be honest" but that's a lot easier said than done. If you guys have been together that long, you must be a able to communicate well, and he must have some idea that you're feeling this way. Whatever your reason for leaving, you should at least talk to him, and try to help him understand why.
