Do red tips look good on black hair?

Question

I have black hair and i think that it's getting way boring. Instead of doing red highlights though i was thinking of red TIPS because my friends red highlights quickly changed into a ugly bright orange and she couldn't just cut off all her hair.But would red be way too much or is red a good color. My skin is pretty tan so i dont know if the red would be good compared with my complexion.

as a hairstyist, i would suggest that you go with peek-a-boo chunks in the interior of your hair instead of tips...(its been outdone) also, for better staying power, dont bleach your hair too long...bleach it just to orangy-gold. reds always fade quickly, but you can buy shampoos and conditioners with red pigments in them for extra staying power

Dyed black hair looks terrible. Unless you have some amazing stylist like the celebrities use. At least if you are going to do it, choose a level 3 color. Level 1 is black, and 3 will probabally be called a dark brown or something, but it is still black. The 1 will just be dull and really really bad!!!!!

why dont you try a very light brown red will be a good color but depends on the color and tone of the red but you should get it if you really want to more on the ends though because think about it if u dont like it you can cut it off at the ends

i don't like tips, but that's just a preference. keep in mind though, that red is the hardest color to keep up. it fades really easily, i would know. red is really pretty with black though.. i wouldn't get tips just because you can cut them off, i would do streaks, you just have to be commited to the upkeep. maybe you should think about a new style instead. that's always fun.

Like if you do a couple of inches like 2 it will be fine but i would suggest pink or blue because since you have tanish skin the red will kind of look bad with your complextion if it is blue it is lighter so it would be and same with pink. Well that is just my opinion it is your hair and you can decide what you want to do with it.

The red tip thing is getting kinda old. Do like blue or something. Everyone has red in their black hair, shake it up a little.

I don't think it would look that good if it's really dark. Maybe if it's a more natural red. Plus, I don't think you should just put it at the tips of your hair I think you should have streaks.

all of the black hair and red tips that i have seen have looked fine. i think it would be ok even with your skin color

Yep I think it would look awesome. Before you have a professional do it you could get a washout dye and try it on yourself before hand. They sell these products at most departmant stores and salons, in the hair section.
