adultery (sex between people who are married to others) is one of the 10 commandments.
fornication (sex outside of marriage) is mentioned several times in the bible. We are supposed to flee fornication...the body is not for fornication.

The answer is based on 1 Corinthians 6:18, Hebrews 13:4, 1Â Thessalonians 4:3, and 1 Corinthians 6:9,10.
Sex before marriage may not be viewed as something wrong in the eyes of some people today, but, it is a serious sin in the eyes of God. According to God’s Word, there is only one honorable place for sex, and that is within marriage. 1 Corinthians 7:2,9 states it is better to marry than be inflammed with passion.
Those who really respect God's word on the matter will be happy for doing so. Why, because following bible principles leads to happier, more contented lives. It protects us from sexually transmitted disease, unwanted pregnancies, the problems of single-parent families, guilt, disappointment, to name a few.
This reminds me of another scripture Galatians 6:7. You will reap what you sow. If you are the type of person that cares what God says, continue to sow obedience and you will reap a good conscience.
I'm glad that you appreciate that the God of the universe should be obeyed.

Well as for the Commandments question, No it is not written that sex before marriage is a a deal breaker. I am a person that believes in God but as for the Bible I'm not to certain. Most of the men written about in the Bible broke so many of the rules they swore to obey. Sex before marriage is one of them. One of the biggest ones is having more than one partner. So to you I say you should use your own judgment. Still if you wait you may find that what you waited for isn't at all what you wanted and then you will commit the sin of divorce. I'm just saying I would never buy a car I never test drove.

Yes, there are several that are broken. God said when a man and women were joined together in marriage they became one. When you have sex before marriage it breaks the bonding process of becoming one. The women doesn't care enough about herself (she has no love of self) to remain a virgin. The man doesn't love the woman enough to wait until they are married. Show lack of control on both parties.
Why are so many doing it now. What values are the TV shows putting out? Satan has a real good hold on a lot of people.

I don't know much about what the bible says specifically about sex-before-marriage, (it might be one example of "sexual sin" that I think Peter talked about), but I have decided to stay on the safe side and not have sex outside marriage.
My religion (Christianity) is my main reason for staying a virgin. My mother says sex before marriage is OK and none of my three brothers and sisters are virgins. We weren't raised going to church--although everyone but my brother is Christian. Its just that, whenever I was in a hot situation with a guy and he wanted to do it, I just had this sneaking intuition that it would be wrong. So here I am--a 22 year old virgin.

It mentions the sin of premarital sex in the new testament more than any other sin. I think it is because God knows we are sensual beings because He made us this way and that He wants more for our married sex lives than we have when we have premarital sex.
Some religions kill the women if they do have sex before marriage or castrate them to prevent them from wanting sex but the Christian God offers choice and does not condone brutality against women for the sake of purity.

Not necesarily. There is no Though Shalt Not Fornicate.
There is a Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery, which can liberbally be an aduteration of a virgin female, but that is a stretch.
The Fornication thing was from Man or one of the thouands of laws given to Moses verbally and it was echoed by Jesus.

Many people in this society think it's ok because it's widely 'accepted' as being 'ok', though it's morally wrong. The bible refers to premarital sex as 'fornication' and therefore, it's a sin, but of course, because of mans' sin and rebellion against God, man does not see premarital sex as sin.

it is not against the 10 commandments per se. the only ones that come close are #7: don't commit adultery and #10: don't covet your neighbor's wife (lust).
so, if you do not cheat on your bf or lust after people immediately before sex, then you are okay.

Actually, in the Bible, if two unmarried and unbetrothed people have sex, the Bible just says that they need to get married. It's not a sin and there wasn't even a punishment for it.
Most of the sex codes in the Bible are built around a concern for inheritance - adultery was a sin because a man's son inherited his money and if your son turned out to actually be someone else's son, well that would be stealing property from the supposed "father".
