This is actually left over from a dark ages belief. The church used it's interpretation of the Bible -- which is highly contested -- to portray witches (usually they were not witches at all, but solitary women who owned property and were self-supporting) were worshipers and consorts of the devil.
The entire concept was fabricated to frighten non-Christians to the church.

You are right, but unfortunately, you are also wrong. While the factoid that "witch" should have been translated "poisoner" is highly celebrated by us Wiccans, unfortunately there are plenty of other verses that also call for the death of witches - not just the one. Even the "mistranslated" one is still hotly debated and seems to be more a matter of wishful thinking than of factual analysis (see below source if interested).
Furthermore, as Wiccans we break the Ten Commandments simply by worshipping the Goddess or by being polytheists - an offense punishable by death in the Hebrew texts.
Sadly, the Bible and Wicca are incompatible. I don't mean that Wicca and Christianity are incompatible - Christians throw away lots of verses, such as the provisions against eating pork and not trimming your beard. Hopefully, more and more Christians will feel enlightened towards Wicca in the coming years.

Witchcraft today has changed a lot since a long time ago when they did literally worship the devil and commit atrocious acts, but it is still wrong because:
1. It often involves consulting "spirits" or the "dead"; occurrences which are demonic in nature and allow demonic activity in your life.
2. It often also encourages the worshiping of creation, rather than the Creator. Anything that takes the glory away from God and gives it to something (or someone) else is an idol.
3. God said so, and that should be sufficient.

The Roman Catholic Church in the medieval era made this its official teaching, so no matter what further information is discovered regarding witches in that era and their lack of intentional worship of the devil, the RCC cannot change its infallible teaching.
Don't confuse the modern Wiccan movement too much with people who intentionally and overtly worship the devil. It' more of a hodge-podge of paganistic and polytheistic ritualism.

Ignorant people believe that. The reality is that that is an utter lie and not true at all. If people got their head out of their *** and did research they would know the truth about evil and there is no devil just fallen arch angels that god condemned to all be devils.

I'm a Christian. I don't believe witches are evil, nor do I believe they worship Satan. I don't know much else about them because as far as I know, I don't know any personally.
As far as researching it, Jesus told us to keep away from witchcraft. If He hadn't said that, I wouldn't think there was anything to it, but there must be, and it must be bad, or He wouldn't have said that.

The Bible warns us to stay away from mystics and such. So my belief in God's word is the reason I think it wise to avoid witch craft.

I don't think witches are evil. Only if their heart is bad. But the same goes for all people.
