its a little shocking to find some people getting so aggressive. I was just asking a simple question, there is no need to insult me people. :) gosh.

of course they do! The tail has muscle, bones, and nerves just like the rest of their body!

Hi there
What a shame you're getting so many aggressive answers, as you say you are just asking a simple question, there is no implication in your question that you are abusing your cat, you just want to know!
I'm sure cats do feel pain in their tails as on the odd occasion when I have accidentally stepped backwards onto one of our cat's tails - as I've simply not noticed they've been right behind me - they've squawked very crossly. And of course I've felt absolutely terrible, even though it's been a complete accident!
It's only happened a handful of times in my lifetime (53 now!) but when it has I've always made a point of telling them that "I'm really sorry, it was an accident". And as soon as they've forgiven me enough to let me I've picked them up and given them a cuddle, plus of course very carefully checked to see if their tail is OK.
Hope this helps.

Get a rocking chair. Put it in a room where a cat likes to sleep. Eventaully the cats tail will enconter the rockers and the noise you will hear will be the indicative of the kind of pain that makes getting a root canal without novocain seem like a trifle.
Or-- as an experiment-- try grabbing a cat's tail and yanking on it. If the cat doesn't put several fresh red marks on your hand, then you can presume it felt no pain.

Of course they do. I've never actually inflicted any real pain to my cats' tails, but I've come close to stepping on them and the cats quickly dart away from my foot. If they did not feel pain, they would not try to avoid my feet. I've also heard and read about cats that have to have their tails amputated and I know that the vet does not do this surgery without anesthesia.

Absolutely, and are more prone to pain in that area! It involves many parts of their body, and especially the spine! You Had better be asking for a good reason, because if you think pulling a helpless cat's tail is amusing to you, you should get on your knees and thank your Lord that I am not beside you ,Because I would NEVER watch you Abuse an animal! I Woulld Take you out of YOUR MISERY FIRST! God bless!

That's like asking you if you feel pain in your hand. Of course they feel pain haven't you ever stepped on a cats tail? It screams and runs so yea I'd say they can feel pain in the tail.

Of course they do. It's a part of the cats body just like the paws or ears. Have you or anyone you know ever accidentally stepped on a cats tail?!? Ouch.
