I don't need to lose weight, but I'd like to tone my abs. I did hundreds of crunches in high school, and my stomach looked no different for all my work. I've tried using one of those exercise balls, but it was too complicated and hurt my neck and back. I'd like to get off the floor, if possible. Ideas/personal experience about the best types of exercises or exercise equipment to use, anyone? Thanks so much!!

So you want the ripply abdominals - cool. The very best exercise for me was lying flat on the floor (on my back) and simultaneously raising my arms from over my head and my legs and touching my toes. After 150 of these take a break, then go again. These are called Jack Knives and they really work good.

If you have a little energy left over, don't neglect your sides do right and left bends - after the jackknifes these will be relaxing.

Keep up the good work! ;-}

Go join a professional gym, and do these steps as follows : 1. Spend max 1/2 hours on the cardio/stepper/static bike. 2. Spend 1 hour on RPM/ABS/Step Intro class. 3. Spend max 1 hour on Squat/Thigh/Abs machine. 4. No need to buy any nutrition supplement, no need to get on diet, no need to eat too little. You just need to keep your diet (food) healthy & nutritious enough (check out the pamphlet in a gym) Total : 2 1/2 hours (do that min thrice a week).

there is this excercise thing that looks kind of like half of an excercise ball. its kind of rubbery like. well u can turn it on the ball part of it and do crunches, which is not what u want, or u can turn it on the other side and balance on it. its call the BOSU Home Balance Trainer and u can get it at bosu.com it is expensive though- $100!!

im in the same boat..I need to lose my stomach fat...I know that running is really good for your belly. You have to lose the fat before you can gain the muscle. Running, walking, anything cardio to get that fat off it good. I reccomend the treadmill or eliptical. Also, spinning classes and dancing are good.
