I doubt if it will work. I guess 20 is a bit too much. My grandmother was married to a man who was 19 years older than her and all through their life, they were like teacher and student, he would always correct her and teach her and all that. He died when she was 41...somehow it does not seem all that comfortable to me.

The success of May-December marriages really depend on the two individuals in question. It still takes commitment, maturity, shared values, and compassion. The generation gap can however pose problems more often for the younger party to the relationship. But on the other hand, here are some examples of happy couples with big age gaps:
- Charlie and Oona Chaplin
- Celine Dion and Rene Angelil
- Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall
- Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates, etc.

Yes, it could still work... but the age difference will seem a lot higher when you are older I think. I mean, the difference between 25 and 45 is one thing, but 55 to 75? Or 60 to 80? Seems like one person would be wanting to rest, and the other will still be going strong. In general I mean.

That depends- how old are the people? a 35 year old marrying a 15 year old would not only be horribly wrong but the difference is very significant. A 40 year old and a 20 year old- is a big age difference. a 40 year old and a 60 year old is not a big deal.

I don't think there should be a maximum as long as everyone is going into the marriage for the right reason. I am 24 and my husband is 55. We both actually love one another, and money has nothing to do with it! We have a lot of things in common, and some of the same values and beliefs too! I think that has a lot to do with if they will stay together!

If you're 20 and he's 40 - its too much of a difference.

If you're 40 and he's 60 - you'll be fine.
