Does anyone get an alergy/iritation from wearing gold rings.
I am unable to wear my wedding & engagement rings due to my fingers getting very red, blistery & swollen.
Any ideas on how I can overcome this problem would be most appreciated as my husband (although understanding) would really like to have me wearing them.
thankyou

I am allergic to all metals except for sterling silver.

The best thing to do is coat the inside of your rings with clear fingernail polish...that will put a protective layer between you and the rings.

Also, consider eating less acidic food...they say that eating too much acid raises the PH in your body, and makes you more sensitive to metal.

I have not tried this myself, I love my lemons, limes, and tomatoes too much...so I just do the fingernail polish thing. ;)

I can't wear gold-plated jewelry, and sometimes silver. Whether it's earrings, rings, necklaces, etc. I can't even wear a regular watch because the little faceplate where the clock sits breaks me out. I get those blisters and, oh; it itches like the dickens! I've been told it's the nickel in it that I'm allergic to. I have to have at least 10k gold. I've never had any trouble with anything that isn't gold-plated, though.

yes, i had this problem. my jeweler dipped it (wedding band) in a metal - i can't remember what - and it solved the problem! ask a few jewelers and they can probably help you. it was definitely some kind of dip. rodium maybe?
