I hate flossing but I have a Waterpik and I love using it. Does anyone know if just using the Waterpik is good enough?

I asked my dentist and he said no. The waterpik is useful for cleaning your mouth of loose food particles before you brush if you have braces. If you don't have braces you need to floss because the waterpik will not remove particles between the teeth anywhere near as good as flossing.

I have a waterpik (because I have braces) and I can testify that they don't remove stuff from between your teeth well.

Have you tried those dental picks that already have the floss threaded? You can get them at Walgreens and probably Wal-Mart. It's as easy as picking your nose - you can do it while you drive.

When I had a waterpik and braces, I used the corded model and it worked great. Just make sure your water pressure isn't too high, especially after getting the braces put on. Oh, and it's still wise to floss every once in a while to get what the waterpik can't.

Flossing is so important... but I dread it so I use Waterpik. Just be careful to follow directions and not damage ur gums. When I pik I add warm water and a tad of mouthwash to the water so it helps kill bacteria & plaque.

Between Waterpik with Sonicare toothbrush... teeth get a good cleansing and rinising. But don't stop seeing ur dental hygyienst

Waterpik Braces

My orthodontist always advised the Waterpik, when I had braces, so it should be good enough. Though I think I did also floss, as much of a pain as it is to thread the floss through each wire of the braces.

my dentist always insists that i floss, regardless of what other things (waterpik, electric toothbrush, listerine, etc...) i employ for oral hygiene. i would think there is some tangible benefit to the actual flossing in terms of contact with the gums, otherwise he wouldn't insist that i do it. and i agree...i hate flossing.

NO! Did you know that if you don't floss and maintain good oral hygene that you will spend THOUSANDS later on in life trying to fix what you have ignored? Flossing gets rid of particles and food that will rot your teeth to the core or you don't remove it regularly. I used to think the same thing until I just spent $25,000 on venners because all of my teeth started to decay. F.L.O.S.S!
