Yea! You are to rebuke the behavior not the man, Christ said, "Teach them in the way they should go."
So we are to teach them how to live not drive them away, if your friend no-longer talks to you because of this how will you get the opportunity to teach him now?

Well God says all sin is abomination and so I'm sure that if you thought you could be one too. Maybe you should show the love God so freely gives you and have faith that if He finds the Lord the Lord will change Him.
If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all.
Jesus says that we are to be His bride and in courting it would be both rude and counter productive to point out faults.

Being gay is not my thing I personally hate it BUT it is none of my business who chooses that lifestyle nor is name calling helpful Gay people are not our enemies It was more than rude it was an abomination to call her friend that

Rude and inaccurate. The Bible calls homesexuality an abomination, not the homosexuals themselves. They are treasured by God, who desires a relationship with them and to free them from the sin polluting them. They are no worse off than you were before you came to Christ (if you have.)
You ought to apologize for the insult - you don't have to express any kind of acceptance of his practices.

It was more than rude. An abomination is 'an object of hatred.' He/she is not the object of hatred, the lifesyle is. We are to hate the sin, not the sinner. Maybe you should apologize to your friend, and explain yourself.

God gave us these wonderful sexual parts...Don't you think he intended for us to get as much use out of them as possible, in safe and loving ways with partners of our choosing?!
Homosexuality is not an abomination. Hatred and prejudice is.
