I personally feel that China is the better choice. China has a very different and unique culture. It is one of the worlds first civilizations, so it has very rich history. I also think that it is less likely that you will have another opportunity to go to China, especially if your French class goes to France every year.

With that said, I am bias, because I prefer Asian travel. (I've been to Japan) If you are really serious about studying French, then you may want to go to France.

I've been to France before, and I had a pretty good time. Didn't eat any escargo, which would have tasted like chicked, as people say. The Eiffel Tower is amazing. You won't find that kind of attraction in China. If you are looking for a culture SHOCK/experience, go to China. But, once you've seen one ancient city/temple, you have seen them all.

China, definitely. You will see amazing culture and meet wonderful people in China. For a lot of people, China is a once in a life time opportunity. We travel to China for two weeks every spring to visit the province where our youngest daughters were born, and as much as we traveled before, I've really no desire to visit anywhere else. China is just amazing.

These two countries are like comparing apples and oranges. You are best evaluating your own personal interests, language abilities and comfort level of each choice. They both have more history, art, culture and shopping for you to enjoy.I have no idea of your interests, if I did I can probably point you in an appropriate direction. I live in China now and spend 4 semesters in Paris, they are very different but equally impressive.

If it were me i would do france, you could get more out of a trip working on a foriegn language, and seeing france than playing in the orchestra.

i'd pick china because in china they like you, in france they don't. china has many more interesting things to see and do. i'll be in china for the fourth time in february, and plan on going back again and again.

I'd pick China. The differences in culture are much greater and it would be a better learning opportunity.
