You are right, only theories, no proof, just like there is no proof it is 6 billion years old, there is no proof that it's 6000.

However! evolution and creatin are not in conflict when looked at from an intelligent point of view as I beleive God allows us, not requires us to do.

God Bless!

The real question is, can I prove it to YOU. Obviously not. Frankly I am not going to bother trying to someone that doesn't have an open mind. Why should I waste my time?

And yet once again, the non-scientist creationist misunderstands and incorrectly uses the word "theory".
You depend on the THEORY of gravity to keep you from flying off the world. You depend on the THEORY of electromagnetism to operate your i-pod. You depend on the germ THEORY of disease when you take antibiotics for that nasty case of chlamydia.

No scientist would ever say that something like that is proved to 100% certainty. It is the weight of evidence from a variety of different disciplines independtly concluding that the age of the earth is vast. Science, unlike religion, is open to new information to refine the theories, and every once in a while there is a paradigm shift (eg. Newtonian to Einsteinian views of time and space) All we can really say...honestly....is that the best evidence at the moment overwhelmingly supports the theory. It is testable, and hasn't been disproven. (sorry, Dr Dino just plain makes stuff up, and doesn't understand the true stuff he occasionally lets slip in...but man he is a fast talking wingnut)

I would also ask you to PROVE the age of the earth, the absolute TRUTH and how you know. Stop pretending, you only have FAITH...no evidence. so be honest.

Loaded question. You know very well that you have set a standard for "proof" that could never be met. You could be given plenty of evedence (provided below) and you will just make up something about what god did differently during a certain period of time to alter the geological information.

If you carefuly read the first link, you can just go to Yellowstone National Park and check out some of the more concrete evidence.

The second link provides a breakdown on the decay of radioactive elements. This is probably the best "proof" for the age of the earth, which is in the range of 4.5 billion years.
The first paragraph makes a similar point of logic relating to proof..

There is seldom "definitive proof" of anything in science. But what you often do get is a large number of strands of separate pieces of evidence all pointing in the same direction. A picture is built up that is totally compelling because it would require a huge co-incidence, a cosmic conspiracy (God did it), to provide any explanation that is significantly different.

There you go...HONESTLY!

Youw ant PROOF of God, PROOF of the age of the Earth, ABSOLUTE TRUTH?

How about scientists PROVING the age of the Earth? The ABSOLUTE TRUTH? And don't just guess whether it is 12 billion years old or 15 billion years old. Prove which is correct.

For the Age of the Universe, have a look at the source listed below!!

God Himself offers "proof"; prophetic utterances in the Bible; fulfillment in history.

You want some "deeper thinking" than what God has done and provided?

There is "subjective proof": To those who KNOW God , no proof is needed. To those who know Him not , no proof is possible.

You want "objective proof"; but just what sort of "objective proof"?

So, WHAT KIND of proof?

legal proof?
philosophical proof?
historical proof?
documentary evidence/proof?
empirical proof?
cosmological evidence/proof?
teleological evidence/proof?
ontological evidence/proof?
anecdotal evidence/proof?
scientific evidence/proof?
mathematical proof?
etc.

What about your brain. If you think that you have a brain, prove it. You can't see it, but you know that you have a brain. Same concept.

Four ways.

1. Look at a large model of the eye

2. Look at a large model of a cell

If you can look at these modelsand say this was all by accident; go to explanations #3 and 4.

3. If the Earth was 5% closer or farther away from the sun we would burn up or we would freeze.

4 Read "The Biology Of Belief" Dr. Bruce Lipton.

Of course. How much evidence would you like? A particularly interesting example is the discovery of natural nuclear reactors in Africa, some years back. The depletion of U-235 in the uranium found there, as well as the decayed fission products found, date that particular phenomenon as 1.8 billion years ago, after the earth acquired its oxygen atmosphere (2.4 billion years ago) but well before the origin of any land-based life (about 500 million years ago). Rocks have been found dating back 4 billion years and more. Of course, the mechanism for doing this dating is studies of radioactive decay, and if you don't believe that that is valid, you don't believe what happened to Hiroshima.

There is abundant evidence of the earth's great age. That is not "pretending."

Even with things that are "just" theories, though... you've got to use your intelligence. Which do you think is better: the theory of gravity, or my personal theory that there is a wizard in the center of the earth that magically makes things fall toward him? After all, you can't "prove" either one, right?

Don't you think it's insulting to god that you so consistently refuse to use the brain she gave you?

you have a question and you have an answer. so be it. there is no absolute proof --unless you begin to accept goodwill theories and scientific theories that you and I would hardly understand. Einstein brain power is needed to advance us on this subject. we are the world -- as the song goes and time to move on to subjects such as how to preserve the world we live in. ecology, global warming should be principal points for questions --whether or not we live in a billion year world or give and take a few millions years. hope it helps and puts you back on the right track.

the earth is about 6.5 billion years old. i know this because tests have been done that prove this. carbon dating alone proves that the earth is definitly over 10,000 years old. other dating tests have actually proved the date of the earth. an element's half-life is very helpful in determining how old something is.

and yes there is evidence to back up the theories, why dont you look them up.

The age of the earth, taken from tiny dust in space, leftover material from the formation of the solar system, shows Earth to be around 4.6 billion years old. Life began pretty much after that, maybe around 4 billion years ago.

Proof only exists in mathematics.

In the rest of reality, all we have are our senses and our reason.

You trust scientists when it comes to medicine. Why not when it comes to geology and cosmology? All any of them have are theories. But some theories are supported by all the evidence we have, and those are more trustworthy than the creation myths of ancient Semitic tribesmen.
