It's not 100% literal, there are many case in the Bible where it is clear God is speaking in metaphors and similes.
But you're not really asking that question, are you? The question you're asking is "Why does the Bible say I can't do all this fun stuff that I want to do...wa wah waah...."
Here's a concept you need to mull over:
SIN isn't bad because it's forbidden, sin is forbidden because it's BAD.
Everything the Bible lists as a sin does so because it is BAD for us to do, it has hurtful, harmful, negative consequences.

In the original writing of the Bible it was literal, but so much has been lost in translation or mistranslated that we can no longer consider it to be literal.

I personally don't think everything in the Bible is literal. When Jesus speaks of removing the plank from your own eye before removing the splinter from your neighbors, he was talking about judging others and not seeing our own sin. There are lots of examples of this in the Bible.

They are some parts of the Bible that are literal the others you pray to the Father to reveal His Bible truths.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Isaiah 28:10 (King James Version)
10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little

It doesn't. The fact is, you can't take the whole Bible literally, because it contradicts itself in numerous places.

My guess is i doubt most bible following people will claim to want to take it word-for-word literal especially with science around to disprove tons of it (eg. Genesis).
It also contradicts itself repeatedly..

It has to be literal so that people with no imagination won't feel left out.
