It takes a VERY long time to potty train a puppy... However to housebreak a puppy takes anywhere from a week to a couple months.
The next time you catch him 'going potty' inside the house say 'bad dog' and take him outside immediately (trail of pee or not) and put him where you'd like him to go. Once you put him down wait about 2 seconds and then lavish him with praise. Soon he'll learn what behavior gets what reaction.

Put some newspapers down in the bathtub and teach him to go in there or what we used to do when we had a puppy was we blocked off the kitchen with our couch, yes that's right, and there was a door to a room off the kitchen, we closed that and a walk way to the living room and we put the couch up against it and we put papers all over the kitchen floor while everyone was gone or on the weekend, he learned to go on the papers, then once he was old enough we let him out into the yard to be a guard dog, we had a huge yard. He might not have an interest of going outside. So maybe an alternative is in order for the time being.
Puppy pads like stated above are a good idea too, but remember to discipline when bad never ever ever hit your dog, reward when the dog is good. Someone also said move the puppy pads closer and closer to the door and eventually the dog will go to the door when he needs to go out, that's a good idea and will work, however I do not think they delay the potty training process.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL2PW
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

When you take him out to potty, bring a treat with you, when he starts to pee, tell him good boy, and wait till he finishes, do not interupt him or he will finish when he gets back in the house. be sure to give him a treat just after he finishes. Never spank your dog, it will cause him to cower at your hand. instead clap your hands loud and say NO. Puppy pads could delay outside potty training, but if you try this method, put it where he normally goes the most in the house and slowly move it closer to the door, eventually he will go to the door.

Just have patience with the puppy. Remember they don't have big bellies, so you'll need to take him out at least every 1/2 hr. Also if he is messing in the house you need to let him know that it is bad. Show him the messy area, tell him no & give him a little spank on the behind. Once he gets used to that he'll go outside more. As he gets bigger he'll be able to wait longer to go outside. My personnal advice is to get a kennel and use it at night & when he goes inside put him in the kennel for 15 minutes. He'll pick up on it fast.

PATIENCE! You are only just beginning. Crate train him. Get a crate slightly larger than the pup and keep him in it when you can't watch him. you are sleeping or not home, take him out immediately when you take him out of the crate. Take him out within 15 minutes of eating. When you see him sniffing or circling like he starting to go or looking for a place to go take him out. If you see him have an accident tell him firmly (not yelling) "no potty outside" and take him outside. It will take some time he is young but he will learn.

well the longer you take to potty-train it the longer it will take. you need to punish the dog for using it in the house and give it a treat when she uses it outside, this way she will learn right from wrong. if you have to leave put her in a bathroom and put newspapers on the floor.

Get some puppy pads, wherever he goes the most, put it there, if he goes anywhere other than that, spank it, not to hard, but hard enough to let it know it did something wrong. Keep doing that until he learns
