I think it's worth a try. Age is nothing but a number. It's life experience, I think, that counts, and I think anyone can gain it at any age. You just have to ask yourself, do you really have a lot in common with this man? Do you see yourself in a longterm relationship?

Spell check much? ; ) J.K.
Simple answer really. If there is no abuse or manipulation involved (either way), then I find it perfectly acceptable. I think you've biased the question towards your personal perception of the situation, for whatever reason.
It's just a matter of personal preference.
I would totally go and give it a try. You never know what may come of it. Unless you've dated older before. If I were in your shoes and the opportunity presented itself I would so go for it! It's a big age difference, yes. You may end up learning a lot more than you expect.
As for being appropriate....if you like each other and are both of legal age, I really don't see how it's inappropriate. There's nothing wrong with it.

23 years???
Wow... It makes me wonder why you would be tempted by someone who could have children older than you.
It's understandable that a younger woman would be drawn to an older, more mature guy who seems to have his life together and know what he wants. I just wonder why someone with so many more life experiences would want to begin a relationship with someone with so few. It almost seems unfair that he would go in holding so many more cards.
Regardless, let's say it works out, you two hit it off, get married, and have kids in, let's say, a year from now. Then when that child turns 25, you'll be 51, and he'll be 74.
Let me know how it turns out, but then again, I'm a single, never been married male who's 31, has 2 degrees, and a stable source of income, so I do have an ulterior motive... ;-)

Wow, I'm a lot closer to his age than yours and I think it's a bad idea. If you're talking just sex, I suppose it's no big deal, as long as you are safe and you know he's clean.
But if you're talking a relationship, I can almost guarantee the differences in your outlook on life and priorities will make a long term commitment unrealistic.
If you really love him, age shouldn't mean anything. The fact that you're asking makes me think you're just curious. Whatever....it depends on exactly what you want.

There is a big age gap in between. Even though age doesn't matter when he is 50 will you still be around? Are you planning on having kids in the future? Can you imagine the ridicule of your friends and family (and vice versa)? Can you handle the him wanting you home or the non trust? You are younger and tend to want to hang with friends and go out. Will he become possessive?

Age is just a number is how the saying goes. I agree. I dated a 20 year old when I was 29. It worked out great until my job took me out of state. We still keep in touch.

Well, I guess it sort of depends on maturity level. If you're both on the same page there, then there is probably no issue with it. Take things slow, though. If you really like each other and get along, then age shouldn't matter.

That's a huge age difference but only you can know if it works.
Keep in mind if you do ever want to get married, chances are it won't work out. He might be too old to have kids.
