Im having a lot of trouble picking bridesmaids dresses. I have 3, one is about a size 10, and 2 a 12. The problem is with the 2 size 12's. One is large breasted and self conscious about it, the other is small breasted and she too is self conscious. Both are self conscious about there waists and backsides. Any ideas how i can accomadate both of them?

Amy B, your opinion was not necessary, if you don't have any REAL advice, please say nothing. Obviously you have never planned a wedding, because if you had you would understand just how stressful and difficult it can be.

Thanks everyone for your opinion. What I am really after is some ideas on styles of dresses. I would like all of my bridesmaids dresses to be the same.

I had 8 bridesmaids... I purchased the fabric for their dresses and then had their dresses made based on the style that they preferred. I had general guidelines to maintain continuity besides the same fabric and color. As an example, all of them were to be a two piece long evening dress/gown. The style of top was up to them and if they wanted slits on the bottom of the dress. I also wanted to give them that option so they would be comfortable in the dress they were wearing... I remember when I was a bridesmaid and I hated the dress. I recall that David's bridal had this option available. Hope this helps...

It's difficult finding dresses for large ranges, but it can be done. The maid or matron of honor can have a different dress style. But since you only have three....All three could have different styles. My friend had 5 bridesmaids with 5 different dresses in the same color scheme.
Stick with one color scheme.
Choose outfits with materials that are flattering to the form.
If you are okay with 2 piece outfits? Allow them to choose pieces they are comfortable with.
Add chiffon type schawls and tie behind them.
I had a schawl around my shoulders and arms tied behind me at my wedding. When we looked for dresses for the bridesmaids, there were some that were not flattering at all...we dropped those. And we found some that were flattering on all the different sizes. I had one who just delivered her baby a few weeks before the wedding...she was heavy chested but a size 4. She almost didn't fit the dress. Then the others were from 2, 6, 8, 10, and 14.

What you can do is tell them the color of the dresses you want and then have each bridesmaid go and pick out a dress that suits them and that they feel comfortable in. Give them some guidelines that they must follow for the dress on what it should look like.
If that is not an option, take each bridesmaid with you when you go looking for dresses for them to wear. Take into consideration on their self conciousnes and what they are uncomfortable with. As for a fit of dress, choose one with an A-line which will flatter any body type. It will help to give the illusion of a slim waist and maybe backside. Dont choose a dress with a plunging neckline so they don't have to show off their chests which they are both self concious about.
I hope this could be of some help to you. Good luck and best wishes.

Not sure when the wedding is...so that may affect the style of dress you can choose...but some thoughts for you:
Look for seperates...your girls may all be able to wear matching skirts or gowns...but the tops can vary to accomodate their figures. This may be especially helpful if the top or bottom isn't exactly the same proportion! Also, this may help with the waist issue or help to create the illusion of a waist or cover any tummies.
The bustier bridesmaid will be worried about strapless or spaghetti straps because she won't do well in these types of dresses. Give her an option to have straps sewn on, if you really want this style.
Good luck and have fun shopping. Make sure the girls feel comfortable in what they are wearing...you'll be so busy that day that you won't be worried about them, but you do want them to have fun too.
Good luck and best wishes!

I had six bridesmaids, ranging from size 0 to 26, A cup to DD, from 5'2" to 6'1". Trust me, this can be done!!!
I went with the Alfred Angelo separates. I picked the color and skirt, and each girl picked the top that flattered them the most and was in their price range. Things went so smoothly, I HIGHLY recommend this approach, especially if you're feeling stressed.
Believe me, unhappy bridesmaids can be a pain. Save everyone the heartache, and don't even try to pick a dress that everyone will love (because they won't). Just let them pick it themselves!
With you choosing the skirt and the color, and ordering all of the dresses at the same time, the girls will all match but will have subtle differences in their appearance. I thought it looked wonderful and allowed the personalities of the girls, the reason why I love them and why they were in our wedding party, to shine through.

I had this problem when I got married...
This is what i did. I bought each of them material that I picked out! I told them that they could pick out whatever style dress they wanted made...the only condition was that the dressed had to be long. We had a themed wedding and I asked them to keep that in mind seeing as I was compromising with them....in the end 4 happy bridesmaids and a relieved Bride.
Good Luck

All your bridesmaids do not have to wear the exact same dress. Many bridal stores have the same type dress in different styles - halter, sleeveless, tea lenght, short, etc..... Have each bridesmaid pick the dress style that best suits their needs. They do not even need to wear the same color - I was at a wedding where bridesmaid wore the same style dress, but different colors to reflect the color schema of the wedding. Best of luck!

if you just go to a bridal store then they should have no problem finding dresses that suit them. a size 12 is not big at all. I'm a 12 so I have no idea what their problem would be with dresses. i think you need to talk to your bridesmaids. they are the ones giving you the trouble and they are just going to have to agree on something they like.

Get a paint color swatch that you want to use for the bridesmaid dress and give this to each girl have each girl pick out there own dress that matchs that color or really close to it. I think it would be easier that way and everyone finds what they want. As long as they match I think everything will look picture perfect. Hope you have a wonderful wedding.

When I was in my best friend's wedding and my sister-in-law's wedding, they each gave all the bridesmaids the choice of style as long as the color and length was the same so each of us was comfortable with "problem" areas. It was actually a refreshing idea! I will be doing the same for my bridesmaids. Good luck!
