Oh my god! Hasn't anyone learned by now that Atkins is a load of crap!
No ticks
No gimmicks
NO DIETS
it's all about calories consumed verses calories expended. Eat less than you burn! Or burn more than you eat!
Make half of every meal fruits and vegetables for some balance
no seconds.
Eat every meal preferably 4 a day, don't skip any.
This is a life style not a diet. Diets don't work!

While I do agree that the "Voter's Best Choice" in comments is Right to SOME degree, I for one have struggled all my life with dieting. ADKINS allowed me to loose over 65 lbs in 7 months. At the age of 25 and trying exercise, portion control (which is extremely hard for myself), diet after diet, I was hellbent about loosing the weight.
Why did I choose ADKINS?-Because I could eat protein (ALL MEAT-7-11 hotdogs no bun, chicken tenders, eggs, bolonge, steak, bacon) out of control so to speak. I could fill myself up and keep eatting these foods and it would only help my metabolism burn the fat. I have PORTION out of control meaning I cannot control how much I put in my mouth, but if I kept eatting the above things whenever I was hungry or ever had the hunger cravings, I was fine. So I chose it because I could eat.
Does it work?-I am living proof of this diet. Actually, this diet is extremely unhealthy and I starved myself of carbohydrates (Carb flu/carb shock). But I got over the cravings for sweets by drinking EXCESSIVE amounts of DIET COKE. 0 carbs and 0 calories. Also, Light whipped cream was a favorite snack because it had very few carbs and was a treat every once in a while. After about the first month of loosing about 20-25lbs of STRICT dieting, I DID HIT a PLATEAU where I didn't see the weight come off. During those plateau periods, I would introduce CARBS (Eat a piece of cake, Eat a sundae, Maybe a mcd's Milkshake ((Something Sugary). One thing I would "Splurge" on just to kick the diet back into gear. But I would introduce it slowly. Once every two weeks, if that. Then as time went on......introduce a "Small splurge" once a week.
Result: In 7 months of strict dieting like what I said above (I drank very little water-which is extremely dangerous, and going through carb flu/shock after about two weeks) I lost 65 lbs.
Maintenance: Slowly ween youself back onto carbohydrates, eatting multiple small meals a day, watching calorie in take (I'm 6' and got down to 185lbs)......I maintained a calorie intake of 1500-2000 cal a day after that to maintain the weight.
I'm now 32 and I've never been over 200lbs. I'm afraid to be as large as I once was. When I feel like I'm getting large. I use this diet as a tool to get me where I need to get then I introduce the carbs again.
To anyone going through the weight issue thing...Ur definately not alone. This is an EXTREME Diet, but it has been the only one that has ever worked for me because I can eat eat eat. If you really want this, you MUST make a CHANGE in your thought process, no matter what diet you choose. You should do it to want to be healthy, but most of us do it for vanity reasons, I'll be the first to admit it. I didn't like the way I looked or the way people treated me as a bigger man. Actually the reason I chose to loose all the weight because I was hellbent to get someone back who wasn't smart enough to see inner beauty. TERRIBLE REASON TO WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT, but hey, it worked for me. Know that you CAN LOOSE the weight if YOU CHANGE. If I can do it. So can anyone else.
Lots of love, Billy boi
ps-After I lost the weight and thought I had no beauty on the outside, my life turned around and I became a runway model. GOOD LUCK! strikeforce81@gmail.com

On Atkins for the first two weeks you can't eat any fruit. You can basically only eat meat, fish, veggies, eggs, salad. Go to the Atkins.com website. They have all kinds of recipes for each of the four levels. They also list what you can and cannot eat.
