I need the meaning of this name..?

I can not find the meaning of Famhy. Its arabic/egyptian. So Im tryin to help out a friend by finding the meaning of his name.
HELP please!!

I'm pretty sure it's spelled "Fahmy" and used as both a first name and surname in Egypt (one of the Characters in Naguib Makhfus's novel "Palace Walk" is called Fahmy). I couldn't find anything on the etymology, though.
