My boyfriend and I haven't been dating for very long, and I am really worried that he is going to say "I love you" too soon, because I think he is confusing infactuation with being in love. I am just not ready to say it back. Today he texted me "Love Ya". That doesn't mean the same thing right? And if he does say it, how do I handle that?

umm no he IS my boyfriend I care about him very much. You don't have to be in love with someone to be their boyfriend or girlfriend. That takes time.

Love means something different to everyone. Don't freak out if he feels like saying I love you when you aren't ready to say it back yet. The best way to avoid things like this is to return it with something like "Aww..." or "You're so sweet" or even "Thank you" and a hug. Even though it's not the same as saying, "I love you, too," it lets him know you appreciate his affection and care for him, even if not as deeply as he thinks he does. If, eventually, he asks why you don't say it in return, tell him the same thing you said here. He may be a little bit hurt, but if he's a good guy, he'll understand and maybe even re-evaluate his own feelings and choice of words.

Sometimes it feels like there's a difference, but sometimes it's just a lack of energy in typing the "I". I've gotten worried texts from boyfriends when they think I'm losing interest simply because I don't type out the whole phrase. If it really concerns you, it may be better to ask, but it's usually just our brains trying to make a mountain out of an ant hole :)

To me, 'love ya' and 'I love you' are pretty much the same thing.
Maybe he isn't 100% comfortable with saying the entire phrase 'I love you', so instead he shortens it to make it sound less serious.
It's also a possibility that he isn't sure whether or not you love him, so he's not willing to put himself out there completely just to be let down.
You could talk with him about your feelings for each other, this would eliminate the curiousity altogether, or you could wait and let the magic happen over time.
Good luck!

Say, "right back at Ya". Don't make a big deal out of it. It's just words, If your relationship is good and you get along and have fun, then let things take there natural course,
love ya! (See?)

I don't think that it means the same thing, it's just something boyfriends say to girlfriends. Don't read too much into it; he's probably just conversing with you.

youre problem is very confusing, he is your boyfriend or is he just a fling?
you dont call someone youre boyfriend if you dont necessarily feel the same thing, or you are not ready yet
so right now he is more of a fling
if he does tell you that and youre not ready yet
tell honestly that youre not ready for that
he is not your boyfriend then, just someone walking by
