I like the 4.0 motor and want to keep it. i want to know what other models have the same motor that will bolt up with no mod's. I know that there is a difference because some intakes systems will only fit surrtain models.
This is so i can look in junk yards and not only look for the 96 grand cheroke larados.

You are right. There were changes to intake and exhasust manifolds over the years. The block is generally the same for all 4.0's from 88 to 06 but the head has gone through various design revisions over the years (four I think).

The 4.0 from 95 to 99 should be an exact match to your engine. Preferably from another GC so there is no surprises. If not the regular Cherokee and Wrangler 4.0 of the same years should fit with little work.

Well the 4.0 was used in most all jeeps.. from the early 80's to 2005 found in Jeep Grand Cherokee's reg Cherokees and in the Wrangler's so finding a good used one should not be a prob.
