(at least by my sandard) but i notice after the installation of symantec antivirus the speed droped....... what could be the problem?........how gould i go round this problem please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Symantec..Norton's antivirus software is a huge resource hog. I had similar results and switched to other software (AVG now) and don't have any problems anymore.
It's Symantec, they are just bad bad on performance. I suggest getting a better anti-virus program.

Symantec does clog u the machine, you might try tweaking the configuration.
Also, do you have more than 512 MB of RAM? if you have 512 or less, you may want to double what you have. (Go up to at least a gig).
