It seems like i could never get enough sleep. In school days, I have 6/7 hours of sleep; in holidays, even when i can sleep for longer, i still wake up tired. What's the problem and is there any solution to it?

There are many ways to combat the problem of feeling tired. Avoid caffeine, always eat three balanced meals, and drink a lot of water. Try to stay in a sleep pattern on the weekends, sleep only an extra hour or so. There are things in your life that put stress on your body so you may just be more tired. But it might also be depression (I don't want to assume anything). One night try to sleep as much as possible and your body will tell you when it's done. That's when you know if you are too tired and need to catch up on sleep a little bit.

I don't think anyone ever gets enough sleep these days. Think about how we live are lives. We go and go until we can't go anymore. And when we don't finish it all what do we do? We take the time that we should be sleeping to finish.
I have had the same problem. Think about what you are eating. Are you eating healthy. And don't lie most of us don't eat healthy. Why because there is no time. If you see yourself not eating right change it. It doesn't have to be big changes just ones that you know you can stick to. Are you getting enough exercise. If not try doing a little. Our you could be one of those people that just needs more sleep no shame in it.
Good Luck!

If you go to bed at the same time every night, that helps. When you stay up late, your body will react to that. Depending on your age; small children and teens require a lot of sleep, adults less. Most teens need between 9-12 hours, quite a bit. Adults require 6-8.

Make sure you are eating properly, get exercise and drink lots of water. Also, you may want to have your thyroid checked.

When was your last check up with the doctor? There's a list of things that could be going on:
1- being female you could be anemic - due to your periods.
2- you could have a thyroid condition -hypothyroidism makes you extremely tired no matter how much sleep you get.
3- depression- over sleeping is one of the first signs of depression and depression is common in the winter months--

go see your doc if you're not yourself in a day or two--- good luck to you, I hope you feel better---------

Just saw a program on tv whereby a lady had sleep apnea, and only got a couple real hours sleep per night. She was overweight though. The problem was solved when she lost some girth around her neck.Otherwise, the other answers had good advice.

I never get enough sleep, and it's mainly due to Yahoo Answers...I'm addicted. But seriously, everyone needs 8 hours every night; even though that's very unrealistic. Your lack of sleep eventually catches up to you. I had to go on Ambien to get a full night myself. It has worked wonders.
