Essentially, there is no set way.

There are probably someone who doesn't understand the meaning specifically of either word, and wants to be cool by being very anti-religion and thinks that the terms aren't mutually exclusive.

Or, they could be using the baby 'peek-a-boo' technique, where they think that if they close their eyes to something that it no longer exists, but acknowledges that it does exist if and when they open them.

Agnostics believe that it is impossible to know whether there is a God(s), or who is skeptical about the existence of God(s) but does not profess true atheism.

Therefore, atheists completely disbelieve and deny the existence of God or gods.

You can't be both; it's not logical.

They can't atheist believe in no higher power. You die, end of story. Agnostics acknowledge that a higher power may exist, but that no specific religion has it all figured out correctly.

Simple, I am an agnostic atheist: I do not know if god/s exist, but the lack of evidence of such a thing leads me to believe that one does not.

Easily. An atheist believes that there is no god. An agnostic acknowledges that we simply don't know whether god exists. An agnostic atheist says, "While I know I can't prove it either way, I BELIEVE that there is no god."

An agnostic theist can say,"While I know I can't prove it either way, I BELIEVE that god exists." (That's what I say.)

You can't. You either think the lack of evidence indicates there isn't a god, or you think the lack of evidence means you can't tell.
