Many times in mania the predominant mood can be irritable with little or no euphoria. There can also be alternations between irritability and elation. Mixed episodes (significant symptoms of both mania and depression) are also classified as Bipolar Disorder. Since irritability may be prominent in both mania and depression, sleep and energy levels may be more important indicators. In mania people almost always have a decreased need for sleep but do not feel tired and have increased energy. In depression the person may have hypersomnia or insomnia and in both cases they usually are fatigued and have decreased energy.

The thing about depression is that along with it can come anger. And sometimes you may have anger outburst. That would not be uncommon at all.
Bipolar is not about swings with anger outburst. Mania does involve anger, but it is not all anger.
If you've been on an antidepressant for over 8wks and you aren't feeling a change, talk to your dr. Always talk to your dr.They can't help you if they don't know exactly how you're feeling.

well w/ bipolar, it means an extreme depression switching to extreme mania (can be anything from anger to whining to mad shopping!) anything that is extreme. if its anger that gets out of hand, that could be mania. but it has to last for a period of a week or so w/ the same mood. the criteria is very specific so dont let a website or some commercial cause you doubts. if you feel like you have something ,see a professional. your regular dr can refer you to someone who knows about this stuff...

Was there alcohol use in your home growing up? if so, you can get free help going to 12-step Alanon meetings. You are not required to speak or share; you can just listen...
the 3 Rules of an Alcoholic Home:
Don't talk,
Don't feel,
Don't trust.
That's where I came from, so your symptoms sound very familiar...
It takes courage, everybody starts out afraid to come...but there are no musts, no shoulds, no advice giving.....just understanding, because we've been there....even if you didn't notice alcohol use, it could still have been there in a grandparent or someone...

No there is always a reason for our emotional & mental limitations--You indeed need to be very cautious before you let anybody diagnose your situation that may not be qualified.
If your situation is as unpredictable as you stated, you need to stick with your medicine or get a good professional diagnosis as to any change in taking of your medicine. Suicide can be an ultimate result of not taking ones needed medicine, it took me 15 years before I got the right combonation of my 4 anti-depression prescriptions.
Please be careful. I take natural medicine also, vitamins, homeopathy but these do not deal with severe chemical imbalances.

Mania doesn't always equal euphoria. You can be manic and angry. Talk to your doctor about it, he or she knows more than most of us.

It's very important to get a proper diagnosis. I suggest you go to a reputable psychologist or psychiatrist for that.
