Hey guys,

Just wondering what the name of a particualr jewish song is.

It is usually performed at weddings during the hora.

All I know is a few words from the chorus and I really need to know what the name of the actual song is.

Here's what I know:

Verse - sung in hebrew (I think)

Then the Chorus goes something like:

"Mashiash! Mashiash! Mashiash! Ay ya ya ya ya ya..."

It's a very high energry song that people love to dance to and throw their arms up in the air and whatnot.

Anyone know the name of it?

Thanks!

Hava Negilah was the song that I first thought of when you mentioned dancing the Hora.

But the song you have in mind is Moshiach and the most popular version is performed by Mordechai ben David (often called MBD). You can hear a sample on track 1 of this album:

The second most popular version is probably Piamenta's which you can hear a sample of on track 15 of this album:

That song is called "Mashiah"

Sorry for the blunt answer...It is sung by pretty much any folk artist.

We danced to it in my Hebrew class one day, along with Mayim and Tayish, which are also high spirited. You may like those as well.

It is called "Mashiach" (Messiah).

It is a Hassidic liturgical song based on the words of Maimonides: I believe with a complete faith in the coming of the Messiah, and although he is tarried- despite of this I will wait for him every day, that he will come.

The lyrics are:
ani ma'amin, ani ma'amin, be'emunah shelemah, beviat hamashi'ach, ani ani ma'amin
(chorus): mashiach, mashiach, mashiach, ay yay yay yay yay yay...

Translation:
I believe, I believe, with a complete faith, in the coming of the Messiah, I, I believe
Messiah, Messiah, Messiah, ay yay yay yay yay yay...
